Kick off!!

I don't know what possessed me to think about doing this race. No idea. I'm barely recovering from a bad back, and as of now, can only do about 3 miles without having back issues. I haven't biked since my last sprint distance tri in October 2007.

But a few weeks ago, when I happened to come across the Aviva 70.3 website, the thought crept up on me - what if, just what if I could go back to my home town Singapore and do a tri there?! The course is pretty flat for the most part, and I woud be in familiar territory. The idea was too tempting to let go. And I knew it would difficult to do this al by myself. So one by one, I started thinking of others who might be crazy enough to do this with me - the brave ones from my list of friends and family emerged:

1. Arvind - my hubby & coach for my first series of tris last year. He trained with me and frankly, if he knew how to swim well, he would have been far ahead of me in terms of doing tris, because he's a pretty natural runner.

2. Anisha & Shobhana -who had done a Long course tri as their FIRST TRI ever after training for 4 months!! So I knew they would be game for a challenge like this!)

2. Tanya - who had confessed to me in Sep last year, that she wanted to do a tri after her baby boy was born. Being a super athlete with a gung-ho spirit, I knew she would be in. :)

3. Ashok - Army officer & marathoner (need I say more?)

4. Chetan - ditto. :) This man has discipline of steel.

5. Bharat - who happened to approach me to find out about how & why I had caught the tri-bug having been so sedentary for the most part of my life. It didn't take long for me to nudge him into doing one. Bee cannot say no to a challenge.

Let's see who else will join this crazy adventure! :)

Vive La Aviva!
